The ELF BOOK PROJECtThe ELF BOOK PROJECT As “Go to ELF!” approaches its third year and is now in its second printing, we have initiated a very exciting program that will place this helpful book into the hands of people who right now need a hand-up ead of the usual hand-out to create better lives for themselves. ELF BOOK PROJECT volunteer Daybree Thoms delivers copies of “Go to ELF” to homeless women transitioning out of the Safe Harbor Shelter Unity Now – THE ELF BOOK PROJECT - is now distributing the remaining copies of “Go to ELF!” from the first edition (the story is exactly the same), FREE, to men and women in prisons, homeless shelters, to libraries in hospice houses and mental health facilities, to people in recovery with narcotics anonymous, and as needed wherever people who are currently making positive changes for their future - will benefit from being exposed to “spiritual awakening” tools that can elp. The publisher, Awareness Expansion, Inc., has offered to make books available for charitable distribution through this project at a very low. Purchase of books and their distribution are administrated by Unity Now, a non-denominational Internet ministry in the state of Florida. Contributions to THE ELF BOOK PROJECT are tax-deductible. Caregivers from Harmony House accept their copies of “Go to ELF!’ for Christmas 2013. Not only will they be able to enjoy the book themselves, but also to share it with their homebound patients. THE ELF BOOK PROJECT is finishing up this year with great success as we deliver books to be used as Christmas presents in jails, shelters, and care giver centers. Because of the generosity of our donors, we’ve given away 12 cases of books since the project began, just a bit over a year ago. That means that 336 people, who are in the throes of “self-realization”, making important changes in the way they live their lives, have been touched by The ELF and either entertained, or inspired or both. Prisoners in the Wakulla Correctional Facility and the Taylor Correctional Institution and the Pinellas County Correctional Center all received books at their GED Graduation Ceremonies. Our thanks to ELF Book Project Volunteer Margaret Martin, who carried the books to Wakulla and Taylor as their graduation speaker. The author, Lauren McLaughlin, personally addressed the men in Pinellas County and presented them with their copies of “Go the ELF!” One of them told her that he had never actually ever owned a book of his own before. “…and nobody better plan to take it away from me.” Copies were also provided to the staff of the Pinellas County Correctional Center to use as Christmas presents for their counselors and for others as part of their reward program - and copies were donated to the libraries at all three facilities. From her jail cell on the east coast of Florida an inmate wrote: “I loved “Go to ELF!” and it has helped me understand my spirituality a lot more than I ever have. Thank you! I sent the book to ___ to read and plan to stay on him until he's done with it. I will share the book with others, too. It is a real blessing. Hopefully, I'll meet you (Lauren) in the near future. God is so good to me." Other projects that have received books are Harmony House, an agency that serves Care Givers for people who are homebound; Vincent House, a facility for the mentally challenged, Safe Harbor women’s project, 2013 ELF Care Packages for the Homeless of Tampa Bay, and a chapter of Narcotics Anonymous. Copies are also in all of the libraries of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast. ELF Care packages are prepared by the 2013 ELF Care Package Project to be delivered over six Holidays – Diwali, Edi Al-Adha, Thanksgiving, Hannukkah, Christmas and Kwanzaa. ELF Care Package Volunteers Yomari Sapna, Magda Santos and Josselyn Gonzalez, plus dozens of others went to shelters, low cost housing projects and even under bridges to deliver 50 generous bags each time, bringing hope and comfort and the following game-changing message to the homeless people of Tampa Bay. (From page 196 of “Go to ELF!” – Mike Palmieri, The Grateful Realtor, tells Tony - “There was a guest speaker that day, a woman minister, and the first thing she said was, ‘A homeless man who is living under a bridge in a cardboard box will begin to turn his life around the minute he becomes grateful for the shelter of the bridge and the protection of the box.’ “She talked then about why, when all we do is complain about our life, it doesn’t ever get better, but once we shift our focus to what is good about our life, we’re amazed at how quickly everything that matters to us improves. She said the regular practice of gratefulness increases our prosperity, improves our health, harmonizes our relationships and deepens our spirituality.) We’re pleased with the progress of this program so far and grateful to our donors and volunteers - And – our supply of books to give away is now greatly diminished. We have only one case of 28 books left to distribute. For this CHRISTMAS SEASON ONLY – We are making books available for charitable distribution at $6.00 a copy, instead of the original $8.00 a copy. If you are willing and able to continue supporting this meaningful program, there is a table of suggested amounts, showing what your contribution would provide below.
